Sustainability Advisory
Our actions today shape our future, not in a metaphysical way, but as visible impacts, affecting our prospects as a global society. This applies to individuals, businesses and countries and no one is left unaffected. Sustainability is defined as a possibility of progress and prosperity today without precluding future generations from enjoying high standards of living.
Sustainability disclosure is one of the key elements of the sustainability universe but one that allows the efforts channelled towards ensuring sustainability as a default mode of operation are sufficient, impactful and timely. For governments and organisations ensuring relevant, accurate and verifiable disclosures is a significant ongoing investment of resources and for many, a new way of thinking and doing. Regulators, public and private sector organisations need reliable and accessible support to achieve this goal in a cost-effective way and reap the benefits of a more sustainable approach to operating.

How can LMC help
The sustainability reporting landscape has been consolidating and structuring over the past few years. First the issuance of IFRS S1 and S2 in 2023 for private sector created a global baseline for investor-focused sustainability disclosures. ISSA 5000 General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements followed in 2024. The public sector is also close behind with the first climate disclosure standards IPSASB SRS 1 Climate-related Disclosures issued by the IPSASB in January 2026 (effective from 1 January 2028). The second public sector standard on public policy programmes is due in 2027.

The rapid emergence of new sustainability reporting and assurance standards for private and public sectors in recent years brings regulatory, capacity, data availability, and resourcing challenges. At LMC we aim to help organisations resolve those challenges. We support regulators with smart and proportionate adoption of IFRS S1/S2, ISSA 5000 and IPSASB SRS and we help private and public sector entities implement the standards in a non-disruptive and efficient way. Our suite of advisory services is designed to seamlessly build sustainability reporting and assurance into operational canvas.

LMC IFRS S1/S2 Adoption Dashboard
To keep track of the progress countries are making towards adoption and implementation of IFRS S1 and S2, we have created an IFRS S1/S2 adoption progress dashboard. The dashboard shows countries' adoption progress from first announcement to first live reporting on a 1-5 scale. Additional details are provided about the adoption approach and recent regulatory changes.
The tracker is based on publicly available information from regulator websites and public announcements. It also references information published in jurisdictional profiles and snapshots without reproducing them directly. The IFRS Standards and related materials are protected by copyright and cannot be reproduced directly.
We try to make sure that the information in the dashboard is accurate but we allow that mistakes are possible as regulators' decisions change, some are publicly announced in advance whilst some are not. The dashboard is updated quarterly.
